This course will take you around 3 years to complete full time, or 6 years part time. However, some universities enable you to complete units or part of your course over the Summer period (Trimester3 such as Deakin University) to complete your course earlier.

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology is a more rigorous degree that provides students with a deeper understanding of the scientific underpinnings of psychology. Therefore, this degree may be abetter fit for students interested in pursuing a career in research or clinical psychology. However, you will have a large selection of elective units to choose from, giving you the ability to learn a range of topics outside of psychology. This course will also take you around 3 years to complete full time, or 6 years part time.

If you have previously completed a tertiary level course (Bachelor degree) such as a degree in law for example, then you can complete a fast-tracked Graduate Diploma of Psychology which typically takes around 18 months to complete, give or take. This course is only available to students who have completed prior learning at a university. All other first-time university degree students will need to complete the full 3 year course.

All of these courses will provide students with opportunity to enrol in a postgraduate course to further their education in psychology, including graduate Diploma of Psychology, Honours, Masters of Psychology, and PhD of Psychology.

Once you have completed your foundation degree in psychology, you can then apply to enrol in a fourth-year program such as a GraduateDiploma or Honours program, where you will conduct your own research project and write a thesis on your results. This course can be completed within 12months full time, or 24 months part time.
